The Registrar’s Office is a University-wide enterprise that operates in East Africa, Pakistan, and the UK. The Office’s mandate is to support the educational mission of the University by providing high-quality services including admissions; records and registration; transcript production; enrolment and statistical reporting; quality assurance; and maintenance of the University’s Student Information and Administration System to the University community. The Registrar’s Office also provides support to the University community in areas of the development of academic policies; University-wide academic committee support; and the operation of all the University’s Convocation ceremonies.  In addition, the Registrar’s Office is responsible for Alumni Affairs and Student and Campus Life.
Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of ​Associate Registrar, East Africa.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the University Registrar, the Associate Registrar will provide leadership to the Registrar’s Office staff in East Africa, focusing on registrarial and academic administrative support to the academic units in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

As a member of the Registrar’s Office management team, the incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of registrarial responsibilities in East Africa and will coach, manage and supervise Registrar’s Office staff in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

Major functions for the Associate Registrar include:

  • Co-ordinating and managing student recruitment.
  • Managing the admission of undergraduate and graduate students, including the co-ordination of the processes associated with the verification of admission documents.
  • Managing student records and the production of official academic transcripts ensuring data integrity, accuracy and security for all Student Information and Administration System generated information, records and reporting.
  • Acting as the Registrar’s representative and providing secretariat services to East Africa-based academic committees.
  • Leading the management of the Student Information and Administration System in East Africa.
  • Supporting the Registrar in the evaluation and monitoring of University policies and programmes as they are related to East Africa.
  • Working closely with local Convocation Planning Committees, is responsible for the coordination of Convocation ceremonies in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
  • Acting as the liaison with the University Alumni Affairs Office and East Africa-based alumni associations.
Requirements
  • ​A master’s degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised university
  • At least seven years work / management experience in the post secondary milieu, preferably within an academic registry.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and team-building skills and proactively provide registrarial services that are efficient and supportive to the teaching and learning environments across all academic units. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Kiswahili.
  • Occasional travel is required
