Senior Mechanical Engineer

Role:
Reporting to the Managing Director the person shall be in-charge of Mechanical Department and to represent the firm in all meetings where mechanical services have been contracted.
Duties:
    • Responsible for taking client’s brief directly or through Architects and working together with other consultants like Quantity Surveyors, Civil/Structural Engineers etc, prepare designs, specifications,conditions of contracts, project estimates and tender documentation.
    • Ensure contemporary and green design and specifications for entire installation.
    • Tender evaluation and preparation of tender reports.
    • Preparation of interim and final payment certificates
    • Project administration to avoid cost and time overruns while ensuring strict compliance with design and specifications
    • Orderly testing and commissioning of installation upon completion.
    • Preparation of ‘As-Built’ drawings.
    • Handing over and over seeing of defects liability period
    • Mentoring and training of young Mechanical Engineers
    • Performance appraisal of Engineers working under you.

Qualifications:
  •  At least B.sc-Mechanical Engineering
  • Registered or registerable by a recognized Engineering Body
  • Post Diploma in Project Management will be a distinct advantage
  • Must be computer proficient and well versed in standard M/s office-M/s Word, Excel, Power Point etc.
  • Must be well versed in use of AUTOCAD.
  • Must be ready to work long hours including weekends (when called upon)
  • Must be ready to travel widely both in Kenya and outside
  • Should have driving license

OR
  • Higher National Diploma with experience as outlined below.
  • Rest of qualification as outlined above.

Experience:

  • At least five years in a busy consultancy practice with demonstrable account of roles as outlined above.
OR
    • Higher National Diploma holders to have at least 7 years’ experience with demonstrable account of roles as outlined above.
