Organizational Context:
Jesuit Refugee Service is an international Catholic organization, with a mission to accompany, serve and defend the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced people. JRS has a priority to work wherever the needs of displaced people are urgent and unattended by others, and offers a human service to refugees and the communities through a wide range of rehabilitation and relief activities, many of which center around formal and informal education needs. 

Description
This is a position based in Kakuma Refugee Camp.  The holder will be actively involved in planning, monitoring, implementation and evaluation of the Mental Health Programme

Key Responsibilities
-          Develop training manuals for the department as per the need and contribute to the reviewing and redesigning of the mental health training manual and ensure that the mental health trainers are conversant with the manual.
-          Help incentive staff to conduct assessment and develop case management plans, identify gaps and suggest interventions and will be actively involved in advocacy on behalf of refugees
-          Prepare relevant materials for training community leaders, parents, and other refugees according to need and assist the program coordinator in training and in-service training for the day care support staff, parents, community leaders and clients’ caregivers.
-          Actively participate in guiding lead trainers in teaching other refugees on basic mental health skills.
-          Participate in identifying persons living with severe mentally illness
-          In consultation with program coordinator will be actively involved in training of the day care program staff and inspire and encourage them to work with clients and maintain the JRS mission and vision.
-          Will ensure that the mental health assistants develop their counselling skills and basic mental health therapies such as art therapies, cognitive therapies etc
-          In liaison with program coordinator will ensure adequate, ongoing support and rehabilitation of the intellectually challenged and mental health clients in the camp through day care and community care.
-          In consultation with the coordinator will contribute in the development of mobilization and awareness strategy to educate the community on mental health related information.
-          With guidance of the program coordinator will carry out regular assessments of the day care clients and advise on changing care needs of each client.
-          Will work closely with families by designing and overseeing the implementation of capacity building programs that will help them easily integrated the challenged person or child.
-          Participate in any other programme activity as agreed with the Mental Health Coordinator or the Project Director or the Country Director.

Qualifications:
-          Degree in social work and at least two years practical working experience preferably in project management, together with relevant professional experience.Experience in managing people/teams
-          Ability to build effective partnership and collaborate with other team members.
-          Ability to work sensitively with refugee population of different ethnic background and/or demonstrated experience and commitment to working with marginalized communities.
-          Excellent communication skills in English (written and oral) and Good knowledge of MS word/Office.
-          Flexibility, resilience to stress and ability to adapt to working in remote area with adverse climatic and environmental conditions.
-          Strong analytical, strategic thinking and planning skills and monitoring and evaluation skills/experience.
-          Patience, perseverance, proactive, self-motivated and ability to work in stressful environment
