Accounts Officer

Organisation - Muslim Hands
Muslim Hands, a UK-based international relief organisation working in over 50 countries worldwide, is looking to expand its finance team in Kenya. The candidate will be based in our Nairobi office and will be responsible for accounts and admin work.
The main responsibilities will include;
Core Responsibilities
• Manage petty cash and monitor balance levels for timely replenishment • Draw up monthly financial reports • Review the reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis and ensure timely completion. • Review and analyze monthly financial statements and report the financial status of the organization on a monthly basis. • Assist with preparation and coordination of the audit process • To ensure that all procurement and financial transactions have accompanying correct paperwork • To prepare and handle cheques and transfers, and generally manage and administer financial grants • Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures • To prepare and pay monthly salary payroll at the end of the month • Manage the budget as required by HQ • Monitor cash balance level, anticipate short-term needs and request relevant cash transfer or withdrawals to HQ • Oversee submission of all financial reports required by major donors • To liaise with Finance in HQ to ensure that expenditure from HQ is accounted for and correct • Prepare financial and regulatory reports required by laws, regulations, Executive Manager and boards of trustees • Review and submit all financial reports to the Manager at HQ meeting the required monthly deadlines Education and experience:
• Bachelor degree in accounting or equivalent • Knowledge of accounting and finance principles and practices • Knowledge of financial reporting • Knowledge of government laws regarding accounting, finances and taxation • Technical accounting skills • At least 3 years of experience in Accounting Field • Previous experience with NGOs is an asset • Proficiency in relevant accounting software

• Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills • Strong time management / prioritisation skills • Proactive and self-motivated • Ability to work both independently and in a team • Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English and Sawahili • Other local language is an asset
