Communications Officer
Position: Communications Officer
Location: Nairobi Kenya
Our client is a leading youth, social enterprise organisation that is headquartered in Canada. The organisation focuses on harnessing and transforming youth into leaders in their communities through technology and social entrepreneurship learning experiences. The position is based in Nairobi.
To meet the needs of new programmes, the organization wishes to recruit a Communications Officer. The position reports to The Fund Raising Manager.
Key responsibilities include:
• Draft a national communications strategy for approval by Manager
• Plan, develop and manage delivery of internal and external communications
• Oversight of the organisations Social Media Account management
• Implement the organisaiton's brand and image strategies and policy
• Overall responsibility in organising festivals and special program events
• Establish relationships with media and distribute press releases
• Monitor media on organisation’s public presentation
• Maintain a data base of media contacts and ensure on-going relationships
• Manage social media strategy – website and blogs – with Communications Assistant
• Draft media messages using all medium for approval by Manager
• Liaise with suppliers on branding stationery for all uses
• Custodian of all branding material
• Overall responsible for maintenance of the resource centre.
The Pre-requisites
• A Bachelors Degree in Communication
• Diploma in Public Relations an added advantage
• At least 3 years experience in a very busy communications office
• High level of technology proficiency.
Personality Traits
• Excellent oral communications skills
• Excellent report writing skills
• Superior people skills
• High organisation skills.
