Training Coordinator

This position is contingent upon funding.
Position Summary:
Pact seeks a Training Coordinator for an anticipated USAID governance program in Kenya focused on devolving fiscal and political power and functions from the central government to the county governments. Objectives include establishing and strengthening the capacity of devolved government structures, county assemblies and working with citizens and civil society to hold devolved structures and elected officials accountable. The Training Coordinator is responsible for supporting partners and staff in working in the program in preparing, coordinating and delivering successful training programs. S/he will be in charge of oversight of all training components, development of training tools, transferring training skills and implementing best practices.
A successful candidate will have extensive experience working on similar development assistance projects funded by major international donors and will have a demonstrated ability to lead learning agendas and contribute to program development as well as provide timely and accurate reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Deliver training activity targets and facilitate development of current & future team strategy for relevant trainings.
  • Establishment of relationships with key stakeholders that can help develop suitable opportunities for training courses, workshops and skills development that will be required to provide the necessary staff development that will achievement of program goals.
  • Working closely with program leads, be able to roll out activities and trainings required to implement the program and prepare an action plan for delivering these activities with delegation to internal and external resources as required.
  • Keep up to date with developments in training methodology and devolution issues in order to effectively respond to training needs.
  • Contribute to the design, planning and reviewing of courses and liaise with other stakeholders to ensure consistency in use of materials and training practice.
  • Creating and organizing training materials as appropriate for each training.
  • Ensure the efficient administration and smooth running of the courses convened by the program teams.
  • Take lead in collection and analysis to support training needs, monitoring evaluation processes of all training delivered.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor Degree in related field,
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in delivering training programs in an International NGO for development context
  • Experience working on USAID-funded governance and civil society programs;
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Solid experience in field of training and delivery of similar programs.
  • Tertiary qualification in Education, Training or other relevant subject area. Professional, accredited certificates in training are also accepted.
  • An understanding of adult learning and ways of engaging learners experientially
  • Proven record of excellent people skills, including good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to adapt to different contexts
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the area of program implementation
  • Experience in Kenya required;
