Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi (AKUH, N) is a private not-for-profit institution that provides tertiary- and secondary-level healthcare services. | Responsibilities |
The Coordinator, Human Resource will provide support in various human resource functions which include: employee and industrial relations, staff benefits administration, contract conclusions, employee separations and other operations related activities to ensure effective and efficient service delivery in line with the overall goals and objectives of the Institution. Key responsibilities will be to:
- Actively participate in the Collective Bargaining Agreement process including evaluation of issues raised by the Union, negotiations, and implementation
- Advise and guide line managers on the implementation of the CBA as well as other policies in consultation with the HRM
- Ensure timely confirmation or otherwise of new staff on completion of probation and timely enrollment of benefits in line with institutional policy
- Coordinate and facilitate Staff Pension Scheme activities which include, organizing the Annual General Meetings, Trustees Meetings, Staff Retirement Trainings, timely issuance of pension statements and timely withdrawal of benefits in line with the RBA rules
- Support the Manager, HR Operations in ensuring that Group Life and Group Personal Accident cover for all employees is line with the organizational policy, provide necessary data to the insurance and facilitate timely settlement of claims in a timely manner
- Support staff and supervisors on employee discipline and grievance matters in a timely manner to ensure continued quality service to our clients at all times. Conduct staff exit interviews and submit summaries on a monthly basis with relevant recommendation for timely intervention where necessary to ensure retention of talent
- Provide monthly staff related statistics for purpose of preparing monthly FTE reports, exit summary and separation reports
- Evaluate root cause of staff turnover and advise the manager on trends to cub staff issues
- Process separation both manually and on the HRIS to enable payroll processing & provide monthly reports to the HRM for ease of monitoring
- Manage all work related accidents including reporting to the insurance in a timely manner and that the subsequent reimbursement is done. Provide a monthly status list accordingly
- In liaison with the Manager, HR Operations, provide professional support to the HR Assistant and HR Officer on their day to day duties for efficiency and effective delivery of service

| Requirements |
Applicants should:
- be a member of IHRM
- have a Degree in HRM/Social Sciences or equivalent
- have a Higher National Diploma in HRM, with sound counseling & negotiation skills
- have a minimum of 4 years relevant experience
- be proficient in all MS Office packages with excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills
- be able to work under pressure and maintain strict confidentiality.
Candidates who have proven experience in dealing with the trade unions, Federation of Kenya Employers and Labour courts as well as updated knowledge in employment and labour laws will have an added advantage. |
