Programme Accountant
Position : Programme Accountant
Location : Nairobi
Responsible to: Programme Finance Manager (PFM)

THE POSITION
He/she will maintain the accuracy of the programme’s general accountancy in line with the annual budget, HI internal procedures and donor’s requirements.
He/she will be responsible for:-
1. Maintaining the accuracy and consistency of treasury at Programme level by:
Supporting PFM in preparing monthly expenditures forecast in liaison with
site/budget managers, including eventual request from other programmes.
Monitoring the utilisation/reception of funds and alerting the PFM whenever
necessary.
Managing cash movements in Nairobi, supplying the sites (transfers, advances) following the approved forecast, and the amounts in circulation under the control of the PFM
Liaising with banks and monitor bank accounts balances
2. Preparing and consolidating and filing accurate accountancy together with related documentation by:
Inputting the Nairobi accountancy into the software.
Downloading field accountancies in the software on a monthly basis and controlling completeness and accuracy of hard documentation
Providing Field Administrator with feedback; commenting on their accountancy and identifying trainings needs.
Prepare the Programme payroll and maintain its accuracy
Supervision, training and mentoring
The Programme Accountant is expected to identify training needs in relation to HI procedures and donors’ requirements (commitments, filing, coding, use of
templates...).
Ensuring proper technical review and support to Field administrator as regard to accountancy. Field visits should be scheduled upon request or/and needs

CPA finalist
Minimum 3 years experience in FinancialAccounting
Previous experience in INGO desirable
