POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATION
The Project Officer reports to the Area Supervisor - Marsabit

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To lead the program implementation of specific donor funded projects in CDP. Under this role, the Project Officer will be responsible for carrying out the pre implementation technical and social assessments for the different activities including but not limited to; survey and design, planning of field activities and overall programmatic supervision of project activities as well as assisting in strategy development and fund raising.

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Result #1 – Leadership and strategic development for the project
To prepare the project annual operating plan considering strategies and identified needs in communities.
To establish the general framework and field implementation strategy based on the agreed on model.
To establish relationships with key stakeholders and community leaders
To coordinate implementation of project activities efficiently and effectively.
Key result 2: Reporting, Documentation and Monitoring
Establish and maintain standard data recording and reporting tools.
Monitors and evaluates progress of the project following the established guidelines.
Assist in generating stories required from the field to facilitate the process of fundraising campaigns.
Create reports on the assigned project, in accordance with donor requirements and ensure distribution to donors and other stakeholders.
Recording and documentation all program activities according to guidelines.
Key Result #3 Undertake other Supportive Activities as appropriate
Identify and maintain contact with key government and other organizations for networking.
Identify special needs and potential program areas and draft summaries or concepts on the same.

QUALIFICATIONS  
Vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ
Excellent inter personal relationship
Excellent communications skills – both oral and written
Highly motivated, self starter able to work on own initiative in difficult conditions
Ability to write well organized reports and other official correspondences.
Excellent report writing skills
Proficiency in computer skills is a must

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree (from a reputable institution)  in social work/community development / project management or related discipline plus 3 years experience working with children in an  NGO set up.  Those with relevant Diplomas with over 5 years  relevant  experience will also be considered.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Proficiency in spoken and written English and Kiswahili.
