AgriProFocus Kenya seeks a Country Assistant
AgriProFocus is a Dutch rooted multi-stakeholder platform that brings together institutions and professionals in agriculture and agribusiness. Established in 2005, AgriProFocus network has expanded to 14 country networks in Africa and Indonesia. The key mandate of AgriProFocus is to promote knowledge sharing and co-creation in order to trigger innovative agribusiness enterprises. The AgriProFocus Kenya network is part of the global AgriProFocus network. AgriProFocus Kenya has a membership of 110 organizations drawn from Development sector, Private sector, Research and academia, public institutions and farmer based institutions. AgriProFocus Kenya has strategically placed itself as a neutral platform where institutions from various backgrounds converge and share experiences. With a growing network, AgriProFocus Kenya invites applications for the role of Country Assistant.
Position Summary: The country assistant role is to support an effective multi-stakeholder platform for sustainable farmer entrepreneurship in emerging and developing markets for food security.
Reporting Lines: The Country Assistant reports to the Country Coordinator
Key Responsibilities
Implement the marketing strategy of AgriProFocus at country level
Engage and communicate with external stakeholders, prospective new network members and the media
Contribute to the drafting of country plan progress reports
Participate and contribute to steering committee meetings
Actively grow the network membership in numbers and diversity both online and offline
Facilitate and maintain an active and interactive online platform with members
Assist the Country Coordinator in facilitating business and partnership linkages that support partners in the development of their business
Identify opportunities and develop concept notes for collaboration and multi-stakeholder activities
Assist the Business Development Coordinator in facilitating the innovation communities at country level
Facilitate debate and learning. Stimulating synergy and exchange between the innovation communities and other initiatives in the region
Skills and Competencies required
This role requires a vibrant person eager to join a small but rapidly growing team. The person should bring on board positive energy, strategic thinking, self-drive and ingenuity. He/she should have extensive networks in the agribusiness sector.
- A university degree in agribusiness, marketing, economics, business administration or related fields
- At least 5 – 8 years of postgraduate experience with similar/related responsibilities preferably in an agribusiness institution in the development and/or private sectors.
- Ability to interact easily with a wide range of clients and partners and grow/maintain working relationships
- Experience facilitating multi-stakeholder platforms and communities of practice
- Well versed with latest developments in agriculture sector in Kenya and internationally
- Well conversant with using online marketing tools – online platforms, social media pages
