STILL PHOTOGRAPHY FOR THE IMCHA PROGRAM

The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is a leading Africa-based, African-led, international research institution headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, and conducting policy-relevant research on population, health, education, urbanization and related development issues on the continent.

APHRC would also like to initiate a stock photo database for the Innovating for Maternal and Child Health in Africa (IMCHA) initiative by having images that speak to the various research work supported by the program in six African countries.

In this regard, APHRC invites proposals from an experienced photographer to take photos for APHRC’s stock photo database (as guided by the Policy Engagement and Communications Team). We will require a photographer based in Kenya, to travel to the six countries covered by the IMCHA program: Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. APHRC shall provide any additional briefing information concerning this assignment when needed and shall provide on the ground assistance.
Please note that APHRC will hold full copyright of all images; any use shall require permission from APHRC. 

Scope of Work
  • Images for institutional publications 2018.
  • Collateral images for APHRC use in 2018/19.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The successful vendor will do the following:
  1. Consult with APHRC’s Policy Engagement and Communications (PEC) team and develop a shooting schedule for the photo stock database
  2. Take gripping and descriptive photos in various locations depicting IMCHA’s research work as detailed in the brief
  3. Ensure that APHRC’s multimedia guidelines are observed and respected when approaching sensitive subject matter
  4. Ensure that consent is granted, either verbally or in writing, for images to be taken
Deliverables
  1. Raw images from which selections can be made for images to be edited
  2. A catalogue of edited, captioned and labelled images provided to APHRC for APHRC’s stock photo database without watermark
  3. Edited images transferred to APHRC’s designated hard drive and labelled in line with APHRC guidelines and formatting (clean and watermarked images)
