Logistics Volunteer - Kitale Field Station
INTRODUCTION
Handicap International (HI) is an independent and impartial international aid organisation working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster.

CONTEXT ANALYSIS
HI identified the need for a volunteer to work together with the Field Administrator in Kitale in order to enable the Administration office work more effectively and efficiently.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE VOLUNTEERSHIP
To support the Administration and logistic department in service provision by assisting in the smooth running of logistic activities, administration activities and management of stock movement in compliance with Handicap International’s internal regulations.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE OF THE VOLUNTEERSHIP
The Volunteer is to contribute to a variety of activities by assisting the Administration office met the deadlines have been stipulated.
PLANNED ACTIVITIES OF THE VOLUNTEER
The Volunteer will work closely with and report directly to the Field Administrator. He /she will be directly contributing in the following activities:
Participating in the raising of Purchase Service Requests (PSR) by adhering to the laid down commitment of expenditure procedures for review by the Field Administrator
Ensuring all purchase files are properly kept and they contain all necessary information
Implementation of the equipment and stores management and maintenance to ensure proper monitoring and usage
Support the monitoring of fleet of vehicles and monitoring the proper usage of the log book and the monthly report sheet.
Liaising with the Field Administrator for follow up with the logistics team in Nairobi to report on site activities, plan of purchases and/or any other issues that need to be held from Nairobi.
Support in front office functions in close collaboration with the Office Attendant.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
Efficiency and standard segregation of duties in the logistics office
Proper and efficient usage of the fleet of vehicles
Proper adherence to laid down procedures and deadlines
Effective filing of logistical documents
DURATION AND LOCATION OF THE VOLUNTEERSHIP
The Volunteership is for a period of three months renewable for a further three months subject to performance. He/she will only be receiving a daily meal and transport allowance of Kshs. 700 (subject to statutory deductions) per working day paid once a month in advance. Accommodation and/or other costs of upkeep shall be borne by the Volunteer.
The volunteer will be based in Kitale.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE VOLUNTEER
Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies and/or any other relevant field with practical experience in a busy logistic office for a period of at least 2years
At least 2 years of experience working with an International NGO
Should possess organization skills, team player, attention to details and cost conscious
Prior working experience is desirable but not a must
Good attitude and interpersonal skills
Should be available for duration of not less than three months
The Volunteer is to comply with the Staff regulations for HI Tanzania, Uganda, Somalia Kenya Programme
