Background: I Choose Life – Africa (ICL) is one of the leading Non-Governmental Organizations that has contributed greatly to Sexual Reproductive Health efforts among the youth in Kenya today. The organization works closely with the government, universities, communities and has programs in over 234 institutions (tertiary institutions and high schools) across 23 Counties in Kenya and reaches over 1 million youth annually with behavior change communication messages.

Job purpose
To increase the life chances of marginalized girls in Meru, Mombasa and Laikipia counties by improving performance, learning, attendance, transition, enrollment, and skills through an integrated ICT for learning approach. In addition, support program teachers and students in strengthening digital literacy and 21st century skills.
 
Key responsibility
1. Project Planning and design
a. Participate in the development and design of new project proposals with enhanced ICT integration and 21st century skills
b. Participate in reviewing the attainment of goals and objectives as set out in the funded proposal
2. Project implementation and training
a. Assist the coordination all project activities including preparation of work plans
b. Training and sensitization of community on importance of girl education, economic empowerment
programs, ICT for learning and entrepreneurship
c. Plan and facilitate peer education and life skills training.
d. Plan and Organize career fairs, mentorship and motivational sessions for students
e. Forge partnerships within the project sites for the attainment of project goals.
f. Ensure evaluations of trainings and outreach activities are conducted and reports written and submitted to the project manager.
g. Participate in project, organizational and institutional meetings and work harmoniously with other
stakeholders.
h. Support in project research in collaboration with the project M&E team
 
3. Resource Mobilization
a. Take part in resource mobilization through participation in proposal development with other program staff
b. Design, implement and evaluate projects with an aspect of resource mobilization
c. Participate in product design for Resource Mobilization with a bias towards ICT for Learning
 
4. Project Monitoring& Evaluation
a. Compile reports and submit them to the Project Officer M & E accordingly.
b. Compile accurate narrative and data reports; including the set deadlines.
c. Track student attendance in schools
d. Ensure evaluations of trainings and outreach activities are conducted and reports written and submitted to the project manager/monitoring and evaluation officer.
e. In accordance with donor requirements, create or maintain procedures for capturing and publishing
monthly, quarterly and annual project technical and financial reports
 
Knowledge and skills
a. Vast working knowledge on ICT integration in education and 21st century skills
b. Experience working with teachers in ICT integration in education
c. Be an excellent facilitator and have the ability to forge partnerships within the project area
d. Experience in implementing Donor funded projects is highly desirable
e. Knowledge on programming is mandatory
f. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, a keen eye for details, good presentation and interpersonal skills and excellent report writing skills.
g. People management skills
h. Experience building the capacity of young people through mentorship
 
Education
a) A Master of Education (arts/Science) or Project Management
b) Or a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Education or project management with 4 years’ experience
c) A post graduate diploma in project management will be an added advantage
d) MUST hold a Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) Certificate or a be a master trainer in MOS
Experience and Abilities
a) A minimum of Four (4) years of teaching experience in an academic environment
b) Experience working with primary and secondary schools a is an added advantage
c) Ability to work with a team, foster a team approach and incorporate capacity building activities into the program
d) Ability to analyze and utilize program development gaps for designing Programs.
e) Demonstrate capacity for collaboration, networking and resource mobilization
