Registered Nurses (Contract and Locum Opportunies)

Role Summary Establish a compassionate environment by providing high-quality clinical care as well as physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, friends and families. Successful candidates will work in the Outpatient Department, Maternity Ward, General Ward and Theatre. Duties and Responsibilities • Maintain the highest possible standard of client care by adhering to the hospital standard treatment protocols and guidelines, and collaborating with doctors and multidisciplinary team members to meet patient care goals; • Ensure an outstanding client experience through effective triage, nursing care planning, implementation of nursing interventions, and monitoring and evaluation of patient outcomes; • Administer medication and perform medical procedures within prevailing nursing guidelines and protocols; • Direct patients to relevant clinics and services, facilitate patients’ admission and discharge process and coordinate referral plans; • Schedule patients and provide appropriate health care services in various clinics including ante-natal care, post-natal care, well baby and immunization, family planning and other Consultant and Specialist clinics; • Provide comprehensive health education and counselling on reproductive health, HIV, child care, Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI), vaccination, nutrition, health screening amongst other services with a view to promote the understanding of diseases, medications, and self-care skills; • Follow through investigations and procedures ordered by Doctors in outpatient and during ward rounds; • Maintain patient records by diligently completing all documentation on patient health condition and care, filing charts, x-ray films, laboratory results etc. while keeping information confidential; • Achieve financial objectives by utilizing available resources, using medical equipment correctly and promptly billing for services offered; • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures and controlled substance regulations; • Maintain a safe, tidy and clean working and clinical environment by following the stipulated 5s of a quality healthcare environment as well as nursing guidelines including preparing, installing and sterilising medical equipment; • Update inventories daily and ensure maintenance and availability of medical equipment in the hospital; • Professionally and timely prepare and present regular nursing reports; • Assist in the formulation, review and implementation of relevant policies and procedures e.g. infection prevention; • Adequately prepare and participate in health talks, presentations, Continuous Medical Education (CME) events etc.; • Participate in clinical audits; • The In-charge shall develop comprehensive nurses’ duty rosters to ensure 24hr coverage of the Hospital; • The In-charge shall work closely with their immediate supervisor to coordinate CME events, health talks, outreach activities & wellness activities. Requirements Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution - Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse (KRCHN) or Kenya Registered Nurse (KRN). A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution will be an added advantage. At least three (3) years relevant and all-rounded work experience in Nursing (Outpatient, Maternity, Medical, Surgical, Paediatric, Theatre) in a busy hospital. Must be registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya. Valid Nursing Practice License. Valid competency in BLS, ACLS, ETAT+ and Emoc will be an added advantage. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint). Certificate of Good Conduct.
