Caritas Switzerland and Caritas Luxembourg are non-governmental aid agencies and members of Caritas Internationalis. Caritas works worldwide and adheres to inter-national humanitarian principles (NGO code of conduct). Caritas Switzerland and Caritas Luxembourg act in the frame of a MoU as a consortium in the Eastern Africa and the Horn of Africa. They operate a joint Liaison Office in Nairobi, have Country Offices in Somaliland (Hargeisa) and South Sudan (Torit) and a Representative in Ethiopia (Addis Ababa).

Caritas Switzerland/Luxembourg is looking for Junior Programme Officer to help realise its marketing and communication objectives, namely to strengthen its corpo-rate identity in the region and ensure its activities will be more visible. The Junior Programme Officer will also support Caritas Switzerland/Luxembourg in consolidat-ing its knowledge management systems in the region by helping to identify knowledge gaps, create knowledge, store knowledge, share knowledge and apply knowledge.

Position:Junior Programme Officer Marketing & Communication
Reporting to:Deputy Head of Kenya Office
Duration:Two years
Location:Nairobi with regular travel to Caritas Switzerland’s programmes in the region (Kenya, Ethiopia, Somaliland and South Sudan)

Key tasks & responsibilities
• Play a key role in reinforcing Caritas Switzerland/Luxembourg’s corporate identity internally and mainstreaming it in its country programmes in the region;
• Enhancing and mainstreaming regional marketing and communication outputs (e.g. written materials, promotional materials, visual materials, administration da-tabases, etc.);
• Supporting the regional country programmes in the development and subsequent implementation of their annual marketing and communication action plans;
• Regularly updating regional web content and managing Caritas Switzer-land/Luxembourg’s social media accounts (i.e. Facebook, twitter);
• Assisting in consolidating and maintaining Caritas Switzerland/Luxembourg’s Knowledge Management systems in the region and playing an active role in inter-nal Knowledge Management Working Groups; and
• Responsible for the administration and documentation of lessons learned and best practices
Essential requirements & qualifica-tions
• University degree in marketing, communication or a related field;
• At least 2 years work experience, preferably with a development agency;
• Advaned skills in computers, can produce complex formal documents, use and create a wide range of graphic effects, strong techniques for analysing and manipulating data in Excel, able to automate operations, customize templates and make interactive presentations
 Outstanding writing, editing and layout skills;
• Knowledge of key issues and trends in marketing and communication;
• A good understanding of knowledge management systems is an added advantage;
• Flexibility, a good sense of humour and excellent interpersonal skills;
• Between 24 and 30 years old; and
• Kenyan citizen
