WASH Officer

FH/Kenya (Food for the Hungry), a Christian Relief and Development NGO – with offices in Marsabit, Sololo, Meru , Isiolo and Nairobi seeks to recruit for the following urgent  positions for the Marsabit office. –

Position Titles:         WASH Officers – Health and Nutrition Program
Duty Stations:          Marsabit
Reporting to:                        Health and Nutrition Coordinator
Contract Period:       January  to  30th June 2014
Application closing date:   9th January 2014

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

1.      Identify WASH gaps and develop proposals for recovery operations
2.      Link the HINI components of Health and Nutrition to WASH program
3.      Provide technical support to  rehabilitation of water sources at feeding centres  (rehabilitation or protection of shallow wells, rehabilitation of motorised borehole supplies, extension of pipelines & construction , rehabilitation of distribution points like tap stands, water kiosks etc.)
4.      Oversee construction and rehabilitation of water infrastructure and early recovery to combat recurrent drought
5.      Technical support to Construction or rehabilitation of gender sensitive sanitation facilities and community at large


QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE (MINIMUM)
·         Must be a committed Christian and willing to support FH/Kenya Vision and Mission statement.
·         BSc degree in Water and Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Environmental Science or its equivalent from a reputable institution.
·         Minimum of 3 years working in community based WASH program in an NGO set up.
·         Highly motivated, self starter able to work on own initiative in difficult conditions
·         Proficiency in computer skills is a must
·         Attention to details and high level of accuracy
·         Practical knowledge in design of community WASH systems.
