ILRI seeks to recruit an Accountant –Staff Accounts –IRS to manage Internationally Recruited staff accounts and actively support implementation of ERP system.
ILRI works to enhance the roles livestock play in pathways out of poverty in developing countries. Responsibilities
- Checking/Reviewing and journalizing of Internationally Recruited Staff (IRS) Travel Expense Reports (TERs) and Project/workshop expenditure reports;
- Reviewing/checking the accuracy of IRS Travel Authorizations (TAs) and project Advances requests (PARs) and staff account status before Payment;
- Reconcile all IRS staff accounts and ensure they are up to date. Ensure all amounts owed to or by staff are paid or accounted for promptly;
- Carry out monthly aging routine for IRS personal Accounts and make relevant recommendations;
- Prepare and forward to payroll Unit the monthly IRS staff payroll deductions schedule;
- Carry out monthly allocation of IRS personal Accounts and ensure relevant adjustment journals are passed;
- Facilitate IRS staff to access their personal accounts online. Follow up with the system support team on system improvements and trouble shooting. Ensure timely response to staff queries;
- Update IRS staff personal Accounts listing in the system. Opening personal accounts for new staff on time and immediate closure of accounts for separated staff upon payment of final retention balance;
- Coordinate day to day management of IRS travel Insurance. Facilitate issuance of annual travel insurance cards to staff at the start of every calendar year;
- Assume day to day management of staff accounts function in the absence of the alternate staff Accountant.
- Actively participate in ERP roll-out and support cross team working before, during and after implementation of the new ERP System.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting;
- Full accounting qualifications- CPA (K);
- Minimum of two years of relevant working experience;
- Good personal organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Highly effective multi-tasking skills, with ability to coordinate, prioritize and organize workload and meet deadlines.
Terms of appointment:
This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) positions based at ILRI’s Nairobi campus and is for a 2 years’ contract period.
Job level and salary:
This position is job level 2B with a starting salary of KES83,606 per month. In addition ILRI currently offers medical insurance for staff and dependents, Life insurance, Pension at 12.5% employers contribution, Annual holiday entitlement of 30 days+ public holidays within ILRI’s National Recruited Staff Scheme.
