Head of Marketing and Social Media

 East Africa seeks to appoint a pro-active and dedicated individual to assume responsibility as Head of Marketing Social Media, on a permanent basis and be in-charge of developing and maintaining marketing strategies to meet organizational objectives. The successful candidate must have extensive experience in the marketing and social media arena. This person will report to the Regional Director: East Africa. The position is based in Kenya, Nairobi.

OUTPUTS

Services and information which the individual must provide to external individuals or groups, to accomplish the organization’s mission and strategy and objectives for East Africa

·         Develop annual marketing plans in-line with the allocated budget and show an ability of working on tight budgets by utilising creative solutions
·         Conceptualize and brief-in campaigns to ad agencies and oversee the campaign and the relevant processes
·         Be in-charge of all on air-imaging and communication and liaise with the production house accordingly
·         Act as brand custodian for the East Africa Channels and continually evaluate and improve the positioning of these brands to ensure that they are aligned to the company’s overall objectives, mission and vision
·         Managing launch campaigns for new channels, and overseeing their effective maintenance
·         Build a good working relationship with Media Sales in order to maximize the commercial potential of these channels
·         Develop and implement Digital Media strategy for East Africa
·         Build and increase the brand equity through digital media
·         Integrate digital plans with programming and channel marketing plans to leverage and increase engagement/talkability/interest/followers
·         Develop a deep understanding and strategic insight into international digital media marketing (e-marketing) trends and best practices
·         Establish and maintain effective strategic relationship with website admin dept.
·         With the help of the research department, track research trends and react with appropriate plans and measures
·         Manage direct reports effectively
·         Write monthly reports and attend meetings with relevant stakeholders to feedback on activities planned for the channels
·         Continually seek ways to improve the image of the channels and build strong awareness of these channels and shows into the relevant markets
·         Commission on an annual basis relevant market research initiatives
·         Budget Management and control

KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATIONS

·         A tertiary degree in Marketing or related field
·         At least 3-5 years’ experience in Marketing, of which 3 years must be in Digital Media Marketing. (Experience in Entertainment industry an advantage)
·         Understanding of a multi-channel environment and broadcasting
·         360 Marketing knowledge with emphasis on TV marketing and promotions
·         Exceptional consumer insight and understanding
·         3 years’ experience in supervising and managing staff
·         Expert in Internet and social media strategy
·         Experience managing external PR and communication consulting firms and contractors
·         Experience in the global marketplace is a plus
·         Event coordination experience
·         Computer Literacy (Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel)
