BACKGROUND
A key part of the
international structure in the United Bible Societies is the Global Ministry
Exchange, a unit dedicated to facilitate a rich and inclusive sharing of
resources between Bible Societies. Provide facilitation for capacity building
for program delivery and management for HIV Service. The HIV Service has been established as part
of UBS’s initiative to respond to the Global HIV pandemic. The HIV Service exists to build the capacity
of the Bible Societies to develop and deliver HIV programs across the 20+
countries in Africa.
JOB SUMMARY
The M&E
program officer is responsible for guiding the overall M&E strategy and
implementation of related activities within the Good Samaritan Program. He/she
will also provide timely and relevant information to project
stakeholders.

Service Program Coordinator with approval from the Head of Global Ministry
Exchange.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To develop the overall Monitoring
and Evaluation (M&E) framework for the Good Samaritan Program. This
includes quarterly and annual project reviews, impact assessments, process
monitoring, operations monitoring and documentation of
lessons-learned/best practice.
- To organise and undertake
capacity building on M&E tools and requirement for HIV Program
Coordinators , providing guidance
on the process of identifying and designing the key indicators for each of
the Good Samaritan modules and Bible Society projects
- To produce regular M&E
reports for learning and Program Development, initiating learning-oriented
research for the Good Samaritan program development and disseminate
information to the HIV program team and the UBS fellowship at large.
- To develop project monitoring
and evaluation tools and plans in liaison with the Program Manager,
Funding Partners and Bible Society HIV coordinators, ensuring proper
implementation of the M&E plans
- To review and update program
data in collaboration with program coordinators through efficient and
effective data collection, entry and analysis.
- Provide guidance to Bible
Societies in conducting baseline surveys and needs assessment surveys.
- To prepare consolidated
progress reports. This includes, preparing quarterly/annual reports on
project progress for HIV Service and monitoring of country projects.
- To clarify the core
information needs of implementing Bible Societies, Funding Partners, the
steering group and potential partners.
- To perform other duties as
assigned by the HIV Service Program Coordinator.
Essential Skills and experience
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills (in English).
● Experienced in operating in a multi cultural environment with
sensitivity to different world views and opinions of the financial world.
● Comfortable working in a Christian organisation with sensitivity to
the breadth of church support that UBS enjoys.
● Ability and willingness to travel occasionally nationally and overseas.
● Self-motivated, with enough personal confidence to be open to continuous
learning and development.
● Setting an example by demonstrating an ability to manage one’s own
emotions and behaviours, particularly through times of change.
● Program and project monitoring and evaluation skills.
● Analytical, documentation, innovative and reporting skills.
● Training and facilitation skills.
● Practical work experience in monitoring & evaluation.
● Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection,
analysis and production of reports.
● ICT skills, especially in the development of Management Information
Systems and databases.
● Experience with the logical framework approach and other strategic
planning approaches.
● Expertise in Data entry and analysis packages and databases (e.g.
SPSS, Epi-Info).
● Sound experience in participatory research methodologies, both
quantitative and qualitative.
● Passionate for the Bible cause.
● Bachelor’s degree in statistics, development studies or community
development information management, project management or other relevant
subject.
● The position requires a high degree of teamwork and collaborative
working, including good communication with; the staff of the HIV Service,
Coordinators of HIV Programs in Bible Societies, The Global Ministry Exchange
Team, and The Good Samaritan Funding Partners.
Desirable Skills and experience
● The ability to communicate confidently (verbal and written) in a
language other than English (ideally French).
● Experience of working with global networked teams, and a track record
in using all available communication tools in the context of a dispersed staff
team.
● Relevant masters’ degree will be an added advantage.
● Experience in organizational budgeting and administration skills.
● Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills.
● Ability to work with minimal supervision and deliver desired results.
