About our organization
Institute of Research for Development (IRD) is a French public establishment of research under the supervision of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and of the Ministry for Research. The IRD is present in numerous developing countries where it fulfils three missions: Research, Training and Expertise on the basis of international cooperation activities with the research institutes of developing countries. IRD emphasizes on interdisciplinary and has focused its research for over 65 years on the relationship between man and its environment, in Africa, Mediterranean, Latin America, Asia and the French tropical overseas territories. Its research, training and innovation activities are intended to contribute to the social, economic and cultural development of southern countries.

About the position
To provide driving and logistics services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
 Perform routine driving duties as assigned within and outside Nairobi and neighbouring countries.
 Ensure the vehicle has all the assigned documents and insurance as per the Kenyan laws.
 Receive official visitors at the airport
 Assist visitors with clearing formalities, loading of luggage and drive them to destinations as instructed
 Diagnose and rectify minor mechanical effect to the vehicle in use in case of emergency.
 Clean and ensure serviceable mechanical condition of the assigned vehicle is carried out as scheduled.
 Ensure routine maintenance of the assigned vehicle is carried out as scheduled
 Reporting any defects noted in the assigned vehicle immediately to the supervisor
 Providing logistics duties to IRD
 Record vehicles data on excel table and in the mileage books.

Requirements
 Secondary education with a pass in English.
 Knowledge of French is an added advantage.
 Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in a similar position
 Clean and valid PSV driving licence and knowledge of driving rules and regulations.
 Kenyan Citizenship
 Certificate of good conduct
 Ability to carry out minor repairs
 Pleasant demeanour with proven record of maintaining a professional conduct in compliance with road courtesy thus always reflecting a good image of an international organization.
 Possess basic mechanical skills
 Able to communicate in English and Swahili
 Basic computer knowledge in excel and e-mail operation.
