Logistics and Warehousing Assistant Manager

Our client, a leading logistics and supply chain management in East and Central Africa seeks an Assistant Logistics Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for organization and management of all logistics, warehousing and inventory functions of the Nairobi warehouse.

Key Deliverables:
        Responsible for inventory management and overseeing the smooth running of the storage space and procedures, constantly seeking to improve existing systems of inventory management.
        Responsible for dispatch and scheduling strategies that ensure optimal delivery of goods to customers in the most efficient, timely and cost effective manner
        Maintaining health and safety standards within the warehouse and ensuring that vehicles meet legal and safety standards
        Responsible for a team of warehouse workers, managing worker time sheets,
        Training and allocating of shifts in the most optimal manner
        Developing and directing the transportation activities, including in-house or third-party transportation relationships , managing sub-contracts, where necessary negotiating pricing , and monitoring suppliers costs, ensuring all partners in the supply chain are working effectively and efficiently to ensure smooth operations
        Collaborating with other departments especially the sales and customer service departments to ensure customer service standards and SLA’s are constantly met and improved upon.
        Create and deliver logistics and internal inventory reports to management where needed.
        Setting and managing high standards of performance within the warehouse, promoting integrity, and teamwork.
        Continually improving systems, policies and procedures by identify existing problems, and implementing solutions.
        Ensuring all inventory movements are tracked on the CRM system, including implementing a monitoring system for inventory counts.
        Support regular auditing of all inventories and inventory related documentation and execute regular security and maintenance checks.
        To drive a culture that ensures absolute control of the Logistics processes with the necessary effective preventive and corrective measures.
        Facilitate the development of relevant training, development and coaching of subordinates.
        To develop and continuously review Logistics Key Performance Indicators to drive performance and continuous improvement plans

Desired Qualifications and Skills:
        Must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business management, logistics or Supply chain management or relevant discipline.
        At least 5 years’ experience in Logistics and Warehousing Management including import and export experience.
        Sound knowledge of warehouse and inventory management.
        Audit techniques and methodology.
        Leadership experience, including managing teams, and ability to train and mentor staff.
        Occupational Health and Safety Training.
        Strong work ethic with a strong sense of integrity.
