   General Description of task(s) and objectives to be achieved

Under the overall supervision of the Officer in Charge (O.I.C.) FAO Somalia and the daily supervision of the Programme Manager (Mogadishu) and the technical guidance of the Senior Administrative Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the follow-up and day-to-day management of logistics and warehouse facilities for FAO Somalia, as well as field projects and/or programme activities. He/she will, in particular:

·         Ensure effective management of commodities and stored goods;
·         Monitor the quantity and quality of commodities stored, maintain/certify warehouse logbooks, carry out regular commodity physical random checks/inventory of the warehouse and produce regular stocks reports;
·         Ensure that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are regularly maintained and safeguarded; Report any missing or lost commodities and repairs/replacement needed for damaged or obsolete items;
·         Provide technical support in all logistical areas including freight forwarding, fleet management and warehousing to ensure effective integration of air, sea, and surface transport operations  for effective delivery of FAO cargo;
·         In close coordination with responsible technical sector staff (agriculture, fisheries, livestock), ensure and oversee the timely delivery of project inputs to intended beneficiaries and safe receipt at various stages of distribution, either through FAO contractors or through FAO partners;
·         Be responsible for all operational warehouse and transport matters; manage and arrange for transport related contracts through the procurement unit to plan, administer, implement and ensure timely and cost effectiveness in cargo delivery;
·         Prepare bi-weekly progress reports for circulation to Management and Staff as required;
·         Daily supervison and contact point for warehouse staff and other administrative support staff;
·         Perform other related duties as required by Management.

Minimum requirements:

Education:
University degree in logistics, business administration, management or related fields.

Work Experience:
At least three years of postgraduate professional experience in logistics, supply, operations/administration and warehouse management and maintenance. Experience within a complex operating and emergency environment is an asset.

Languages:
Working knowledge (level C) of the FAO official language used for communication within the country (English) and working knowledge of the local language is required.

IT Skills:
Ability to effectively use standard office software, such as MS Office (Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel, Exchange) etc. Ability to use accounting software and other information systems and databases to insert data, make enquiries, retrieve/define ad hoc reports and analyses and edit results in appropriate format.

Office Management Skills:
Systematic, well structured and efficient approach to work assignments. Analytical ability, accuracy and consistency. Exercise diligence and care in dealing with records and expenditures.

Interpersonal Communications and Teamwork Skills:
The incumbent must possess a cooperative spirit, flexibility and openness to work in an international environment. Tact and courtesy. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different national and cultural background.  High degree of self-motivation and initiative. Willingness to learn and apply new analytical approaches.
Selection Criteria
·         Relevance and level of academic qualifications;
·         Extent of experience in logistics, and/or operations/administration;
·         Proficiency in using MS Office Suite
·         Ability to identify and resolve problems expeditiously and pragmatically;
·         Ability to plan, coordinate, and manage multiple activities and adjust to changing priorities;
·         General knowledge of UN System policies, rules, regulations and procedures governing administration
