Group Life Business Development Officer

Job Description

Our client, one of the leading players in long term business in the East African region, seeks to fill the position of Group life Business Development Officer with a suitably qualified candidate. The main responsibility will be growing business through gaining new customers and retaining existing accounts of Group Life, Group Credit, Group Mortgage and Retirement Benefits Plans including personal pension plans for which clear targets will be provided.
We would like to discuss the offer with a really switched on individual who is inspired by challenges, and who will be responsible for among other responsibilities, the following:
• Acquiring new business by identifying and exploiting new business opportunities in the market;
• Looking for and opening new markets.
• Providing competitive quotations to prospects.
• Consulting on the most effective cover for particular needs, while taking into account the relevant factors.
• Setting up meetings and preparing presentations.
• Developing and maintaining good working relationships with intermediaries and existing customers.
• Training and supporting Tied Life Agents on product awareness.
• Training and supporting intermediaries on product awareness.
• Introducing new products and promoting them through regular visits and frequent communication with intermediaries, existing clients and prospects.
• Ensuring credibility with clients by maintaining detailed knowledge of current market conditions and competitors’ products.
• Delivering good customer service by responding swiftly to queries and concerns from clients.
Applicants for this vacancy should have:
• An undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science or Statistics/Mathematics.
• ACII or IIK qualification will be an added advantage.
• At least 3 years’ experience in marketing of life and pensions solutions to corporates, brokers and organized groups.
• Knowledge of Financial markets, investment analysis and interpretation will be added advantage.
• Appreciable understanding of the Kenya insurance market, the prevailing business environment and products by the competition.
• Good communications skills, both written and verbal.
• Self -motivated and able to work as part of a team.
• Confidence presenting to large groups of people.
• Self initiative and enterprise mindedness.
• A smart appearance and professional manner.
