Public Relations Officer

PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER
Role Profile:
We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual with experience and skills in Public Relations. The role holder will be responsible for supporting the Communications and Advertising department in Media relations, Corporate PR management, Product PR management and other related roles as shall be assigned.
The role holder will report to the General Manager Communication and work closely with the team in the Communication and Advertising Department and various business units. Tasks require a strong attention to detail, ability to work under tight deadlines and strong interpersonal skills.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
• Planning, developing and implementing PR strategies
• Liaising with the retained PR Agency on media related issues including development and distribution of press releases and background notes
• Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media
• Collating and analyzing media coverage
• Assist with writing and editing in-house magazines, supplements/advertorials case studies, speeches, articles, corporate profiles and annual reports
• Devising and coordinating photo opportunities
• Organizing and managing events including press conferences, investor briefings, product launches, AGMs, press tours and other forums
• Planning publicity strategies and campaigns
• Maintaining and updating information on the organization’s website
• Sourcing and managing speaking and sponsorship opportunities
• Develop risk assessments and implement crisis management plans to ensure organization’s reputation is maintained
• Monitor public opinion
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
• University degree in Communications, PR or Journalism
• Professional training in Marketing or Public relations
• Over 3 years experience in Public Relations and Advertising
Desired Skills and Ability
• Good analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
• Able to write concisely
• Strong organisational skills
• Interested in current affairs
• Able to manage multiple projects, work under pressure and strict deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Initiative and creativity
• Ability to prioritise and plan effectively
• Awareness of different media agendas
