Caritas Switzerland (Caritas) is a non-governmental aid agency and a member of Caritas Internationalis. Caritas Switzerland works in Eastern Africa and the Horn of Africa with a focus on education, strengthening of civil society, food security and water, hygiene and sanitation. We operate an office in Nairobi, have Country Offices in Somaliland (Hargeisa) and South Sudan (Torit) and a Representative in Ethiopia (Addis Ababa).
In South Sudan, Caritas Switzerland implements comprehensive recovery projects to provide basic services that aim at increasing access to quality education, improve food security as well as improving access to, and use of safe water by the eneficiaries. Among others Caritas builds water catchments and has a strong focus on sanitation and hygiene education and as well as teacher training, strengthening of parents/teachers associations and water management institutions. Caritas Switzerland is currently seeking a Program, Monitoring and Evaluation (PM&E) Officer for its South Sudan Programme.
Position Program, Monitoring and Evaluation (PM&E) Officer
Workplace Torit with frequent travels within Eastern Equatoria State
Starting date As soon as possible Duration 6-12 months
Key tasks & responsibilities
Leading the M&E section of the Caritas Switzerland Office in Torit;
Identify, design and monitor performance questions, key indicators and targets for each project component;
Analyse, manage and compile data for M&E, information and knowledge management and project as well as office reporting;
Establishment of a data collection system and relevant data collection tools;
Establish log frames, M&E work plans, and targets during the drafting of project proposals as well as monitor it throughout project implementation.
Support staff of the CaCH South Sudan office to comply with set M&E systems;
Support and participate in program and project evaluations / provide input, information and statistics for quarterly, annual and other reports;
Support and contribute to the development of proposals, concept notes and donor reports as needed.
Coordinate with Marketing &Communication Officer in the Caritas Liaison office Nairobito ensure visibility of project activities is done.
Any other work as assigned by the Country Director and within the field of work
Essential requirements & qualifications
Advanced University Degree qualifications or equivalent in M&E, economics/statistics and / or project management or related qualifications from a recognised university/ training institution;
Proven track record in resource management, Project Cycle Management and
organisational development;At least 5 years work experience gained in a senior management position as well as field work experience in recovery contexts;
Strong planning, presentation, communication and reporting skills;
Flexible, innovative and sensitive to cultural values;
Knowledge of the South Sudanese context is an added value;
Fluent in English is a requirement, German is an asset.
