Accountability:
Under the general supervision of the Head of Vulnerability Assessment and Mapping (VAM) unit. The incumbent will liase with all other staff in the unit in the course of executing the duties, especially in matters of Nutrition and will work closely with Programme units in the implemention of direct nutrition interventions and other nutrition sensitive interventions, programme reporting and in the analysis of information for food and nutrition security. The incumbent will also ensure implementation of enabling systems for nutrition interventions including advocacy, coordination and programme linkages. The incumbent will be responsible for the following:-

Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide nutrition technical guidance to WFP Kenya, its corporating partners(CP) and the Government of Kenya (GOK) through contributing to the development of PRROs, nutrition related policies, strategies, action plans, guidelines and M&E frameworks, and their translation into practice, provision of guidance on nutrition monitoring, analysis and interpretation, review and implementation of recommendations as  appropriate Provide capacity support to staff in WFP Kenya, CPs and GOK staff in the implementation of guidelines and interventions by direct training for nutrition programme implementation, periodic joint partners supervision and support On-the-Job nutrition training of WFP staff and CP nutritionists Maintain liaison with GOK, UN agencies, NGOs and other nutrition stakeholders by being a member of relevant national nutrition
sector coordination and working groups and through harmonising WFP and nutrition sector initiatives and contribute to their implementation.

Be an advocate for nutrition within WFP as well as with general public, particularly in the role of food in addressing undernutrition; Advocate for the supply and use of safe, nutritious, preferred and age appropriate food; contribute to efforts aimed at mobilising for increased funding to nutrition in both emergency and development sectors and support and provide guidance for multisectoral linkages to address underlying causes of malnutrition Guide, supervise and manage staff performance through direct supervision with periodic assessment, training and addressing staff development needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

University Degree in Nutrition, Public Health or other related field. Knowledge of latest development and technology in nutrition field. Minimum of five years of postgraduate progressively responsible professional in experience in management of public health and nutrition programmes . Training and/or experience utilizing public health related statistical software packages. Proven experience in influencing and establishing public nutrition interventions including management of acute malnutrition Good analytical skills; resourcefulness, initiative, maturity of judgement, tact, advocacy and negotiating skills and an ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing is required. Ability to work in a team, and establish effective working relations with persons of different national and cultural backgrounds. Ability to cope with situations which may threaten health/safety; flexibility in accepting work assignments outside normal desk work. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with counterparts and staff within the office, host
population, donors, NGOs and other UN agencies; Ability to establish priorities and to plan, coordinate and monitor own work plan and those under his/her supervision. Ability to deal patiently and tactfully with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
