RedR and the work we do
Each year millions of people around the world feel the
effects of natural disaster and conflict. RedR
is an international charity that improves the effectiveness of disaster relief,
helping save and rebuild the lives of people affected by disaster worldwide. We
do this by delivering essential training and support to relief organisations
and their staff, and by supplying skilled professionals to humanitarian
programmes. Our work helps to ensure
that the right people with the right skills are responding to global
emergencies, and enables both local and international relief workers to react
to the needs of those affected by disaster, efficiently and safely.
In response to recent
humanitarian catastrophes, we currently have training and local capacity
building programmes in Sudan, Pakistan and South Sudan and have recently
secured contracts for two large training programmes in Kenya. It is anticipated that our training programme
in the country will expand further in the next year. .
Context
RedR UK is in the final stages of negotiating a contract with OFDA for a
cutting edge programme of holistic security training in partnership with Harvard University, a world renowned academic institution at
the cutting edge of online learning, and Beechwood International, a highly respected
and innovative private sector partner renowned for its support to collaboration
and decision making.
Working closely
with 12 national and international organizations operating in East and Central
Africa this program will prove an innovative approach to the integration of
security management that can be projected on a global scale. This approach will directly address the
long term lack of ‘total agency’ buy-in to security issues and management.
