Senior Regional Programme Coordinator

The mission of the International HIV/AIDS Alliance is to support communities to reduce the spread of HIV and to meet the challenges of AIDS. We are working to prevent HIV infection; improve access to HIV treatment, care and support; and lessen the impact of HIV and AIDS worldwide, particularly among the most vulnerable and marginalised.

We are seeking a Senior Regional Programme Coordinator. The Senior Regional Programme Coordinator (hereafter: Coordinator) manages MSM Africa, which serves as an umbrella for the Alliance’s MSM work in Africa and expands that work in East and Southern Africa, namely in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

MSM Africa relies on decentralised activities implemented by a range of organisations and supported by a number of teams, and the Coordinator will need to coordinate these activities and work in close collaboration with Alliance Linking Organisations (hereafter: LOs) and their community-based implementing partners, the Core MSM Africa Engagement Team within the Alliance Secretariat (hereafter: Core Team), Regional Technical Support Hubs and other MSM Africa partners, such as regional and global MSM community networks.

The Coordinator is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the programme; for budgeting and budget management; for coordination of programme activities, processes and partners; for ensuring that the programme is in line with the Alliance global strategy, is of an acceptable quality, generates and uses available evidence, and produces tangible results; for supporting country implementation partners in technical management of in-country projects; for programme representation to other staff in the Alliance and externally when required; for supporting the donor relations function as required; and for contributing to risk assessment and management. He/She will further be leading on the development of the Alliance’s MSM Africa strategy.
Please see the job description and person specification for full details of the role.
