Hungry, Kenya) a Christian relief and development agency seeks to fill the following vacant position in Marsabit:

Post Title:                               Accountant
Reporting to:                         Field Accountant
Duty Station:                         Marsabit
Contract Duration:                2 years

OBJECTIVE:
To provide support to the Field Accountant and to ensure grants are well monitored and in compliance with donor requirements.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of the Accountant will include
the following:
·          Will be responsible for preparing cheque payments on behalf of FH/K as and when required, ensuring compliance with FH/K policies.
·         Review the petty cash, Program Advances Journal and Cash Disbursements Journals, before the final approval by the field accountant.
·         Ensure financial transactions in Marsabit adhere to FH policies
·         Receive payments due to FH/K, issue receipts and deposit such payments promptly.
·         Issue authorised programme and staff advances promptly
·         Keying in accounting data into Sunsystems, maintaining high level of accuracy.
·         Handling cash surrenders and verification of returns from the field
·         Maintain a proper filling of accounting records and other reference materials.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • Degree in Finance/Accounts or an equivalent degree
  • CPA part III Section 5 or ACCA Part III
  • Age between 30-35 years
  • At least 3-5 years accounting experience preferable in an NGO
  • Well versed in computerised accounting applications especially SUN System will be an added advantage
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Computer literate with a good command in Ms excel
  • Good communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Committed to serve the poor in relation to FH/Kenya’s Christian foundation and beliefs
