Flight Operations Officer

Job Title:          Flight Operations Officer
Location:          Embakasi, Nairobi
Department:     Operations
Description:
To provide, prepare and brief pilots with timely, adequate and updated flight documentations and relevant information in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified so as to ensure safe conduct of flights and to achieve safe and accurate flight watch.
Job Requirements:
  1. Keep sufficient flight watch and monitor flight progress in accordance with Operational Manual.
  2. Action all Sitatex/Emails for efficient safe operations.
  3. Operate radios UHF, VHF, HF to establish effective communications with ground staff and aircrafts.
  4. Update operations documentation, manuals and charts to keep them on current status in accordance with Company Policy and Civil Aviation Authorities requirements.
  5. Ensure orderliness and cleanliness of Operations Control Centre in order to maintain conducive working environment.
  6. Compile and compute flight progress status in Sabre in order to maintain correct flight information.
  7. Provide metrological information to aircraft in-flight when required for safe flight operations.
  8. Furnish the pilot- in- command while in flight, by appropriate means, with information which may be necessary for the safe conduct of the flight.
  9. Ensure implementation of safety, security and emergency standards at all times.
  10. Prepare process and provide all updated dispatch documentation and information for readiness of flight crew briefings.
  11. Provide timely briefing to flight crew, in conformity with Company policy and Civil Aviation Regulations for safe operation of the flights.
  12. Provide Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) and meteorological pre-flight briefing for all crews departing from Nairobi and other stations where applicable.
  13. Advise Load Control on any payload status on the sector(s) to be flown so as to maximize payload.
  14. File all ATS flight plans with the relevant Civil Aviation Authorities and communicate any changes thereof in good time in accordance with legal requirements.
  15. Monitor all assigned aircraft for restrictive Operational MEL/CDL and plan flights considering the restrictions in consultation with the MCC.
  16. Ensure implementation of safety, security and emergency standards at all times.
Key Requirements:
  • Diploma in relevant field or University graduate.
  • Must have Flight Operations dispatchers License
  • Must have worked in either airline Operations or Commercial for at least 5 years.
  • Must be a team player with the ability to respond quickly to changes.
  • Computer literate
