Broadcast Transmission Engineer

A vacancy has arisen within the organisation for a Broadcast Transmission Engineer to be based in Kisumu. The engineer will be responsible for the Western Region comprising of Kapenguria, Webuye, Kakamega, Eldoret, Kisii, Homa Bay, Kisumu and Kericho.

Outputs/Responsibilities:
  • Ensure world-class service levels for all Terrestrial digital broadcast networks. 
  • Ensure effective implementation of new transmission systems relative to software/hardware on various Broadcast platforms.
  • Installation and maintenance of Digital Transmission and receive infrastructure
  • Conduct data and RF measurements
  • VSat installation and maintenance.
  • Change control and problem solving reporting processes
  • Telemetry management (event and fault logging)
  • Establish and maintain recovery processes
  • Operational Monthly availability, failure and callout reports
  • Establish and maintain operational processes to achieve optimum service levels.
  • Managing the first line support resources.
  • Asset management.
  • 24hr standby duties

Job Qualifications and Competencies
  • A National Diploma or Degree in Engineering / Electronics
  • Best practices for Terrestrial digital/analogue operations  
  • VSAT and Satellite Receive systems
·         Terrestrial RF operations both Digital and Analogue
·         Computer Literacy – IT Networking
·         Radio frequency (RF) knowledge, including measurements, i.e. proficiency with the use of RF test equipment, .e.g. Spectrum analyser
  • IT networking
·         Digital television systems
·         Equipment repairs, Modular swap-outs
·         Knowledge of Standby Generators
·         Basic knowledge on air conditioners
·         Understanding of PLC controllers
·         Be in possession of a valid driver’s license
