Procurement Officer

Feed The Children – Kenya, a Christian NGO is seeking to recruit the position of Procurement Officer. This is a one year contract position. Based in Nairobi with field assignments, the incumbent will report to the Procurement
Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities: 
• Take departmental orders and requests for procurement action
• Assist in expediting orders
• Conduct market surveys and managing supplier relationships
• Receiving purchases and cheque requests from departments
• Disbursements of cheques to suppliers
• Maintaining contacts with vendors regarding orders and merchandise
• Receiving, Inspecting and issuing stocks to the user departments
• Preparing periodic reports related to purchasing and inventory control
• Conduct and prepare inventory listings
• Purchase and procure goods and services as requested by various sections
• Liaises with approved vendors in sourcing for quotations and BIDs for supply of quality, cost effective items and ensuring timely delivery.
• Maintain and monitor stock levels
• Monitor and ensure that Organization’s bills and invoices are paid on a timely basis.
• In charge of the store at the Gigiri office.
• Perform any other duties assigned in order to improve the Procurement operations of FTC-K

 Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

• University degree in Social sciences specializing in procurement and supply or supply chain management.
• Member of a professional body KISM or CIPS
• Postgraduate diploma in procurement and supply will be an added advantage
• Two years’ work experience in purchasing section
• Relevant NGO experience in procurement
• Excellent computer skills in office suites
• Sociable person with passion to serve children and good problem solving skills
• Self-motivated individual with integrity who works with minimum supervision
