Company Profile:
Our client in the construction industry is seeking suitable candidate for the aforementioned position, to join their construction team in Kampala-Uganda.

Role of the Position; 
Job purpose is coordinating the efforts of the estimating staff in support of the Project Manager and is accountable for the overall outcome of the estimates and project schedules for all project proposals and exclusive negotiation.
The Construction planner will be responsible for:
• Prepare and maintain detailed engineering and construction schedules including development of critical path and project float.
• Partner with operations manager to establish the plan and document the scope, develop project schedules and or capital cost estimates.
• Maintain liaison with management regarding project planning by conducting analyses and preparing reports.
• Make presentations to clients as needed.
• Monitor hours and costs to determine trends and to assist in forecasting.
• Evaluate scope changes, cost trends, additional work orders and other elements.
• Interact with suppliers and contractors and makes cost comparisons.
• Ensure the maintenance of all essential documentation.
• May make periodic visits to review cost reporting.
• Verify contractor/supplier invoices.
• Gathers and reviews data concerning facility modifications including requested modifications, company policies, regulatory requirements, and required completion dates
• Participates in the development of timetables and schedules for projects.
• Participates in coordinating with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detailed drawings, prepares bid sheet and contracts for construction and facilities acquisitions
• Prepares technical Statements of Work for construction projects, facility modifications, improvements and high end service and maintenance contracts
• Coordinates the review of estimated design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparations, and other related costs
• Prepares project budgets and cost estimates, schedules and coordinates resources and tasks to complete projects on approved budget
• Provides “in house” Facilities Engineering Support by providing plans and specifications for individual small projects, on schedule and cost satisfactory to project and / or job sponsors; i.e., space planning, in house tenant improvements, facility modification, etc.
• Coordinates projects with all affected parties to ensure projects are completed on schedule and government regulations and health and safety requirements are maintained
• Analyzes data and situations, recommends solutions to supervisor


Essential Qualifications
• A Diploma in Civil Engineering, Building and Construction, Architecture or other relevant field from recognized college and universities. 
• A minimum of three (3) years previous experience in construction, architecture or engineering or on a civil project.
• Background or knowledge in Accounting is desirable
• Engineering knowledge.
• Construction experience.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Desirable; High computing skills.
