Position: NURSES
Project: Medical Department
Reporting to: Health Unit Administrator
Duty Station : Kakuma Mission Hospital (4), Lokori Health Care (1), St Patrick Health Care (1)

Key duties and responsibilities:-
Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements.
Offer nursing care to clients and attend to patients in the Outpatient Department, offer treatment in In Patient Department.
Ensure Anti Natal Clinic mothers are counseled and tested for HIV, ensure and conduct safe deliveries in the facility, adherence counseling to clients.
Guide Home – Based Care providers and volunteers.
Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends and families.
Promote patient’s independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patients, friends, and family to understand condition, meditations and self care skills; answering questions.
Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health necessary adjustments, following hospital and nursing division’s philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act and other governing agency regulations.
Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multi - disciplinary team strategies.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations calling for assistance from health care support personnel.
Protects patients and employees by adhering to infections and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
Maintains patience confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies, using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma in Nursing from Kenya Medical Training College or any other recognized institution
or its equivalent, Valid license from the Nursing council of Kenya
1 – 2 years experience from a busy health unit.
Knowledge of current HIV Management/CCC experience will be an added advantage.
A recommendation letter from a Parish Priest.
