Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Commercial Manager, based in Kenya.
Job Description
Provide commercial leadership, direction and support in creating, optimising and protecting the value of interests in Kenya and Ethiopia.
  • Provide timely commercial advice, negotiation/transactional support in the delivery of robust commercial solutions/arrangements in the delivery of Kenya/Ethiopia business.
  • Develop a fit for purpose commercial team to support Kenya and Ethiopia business activities.
  • Provide sound and timely strategic, commercial, economic guidance and advice in support of the K/E Business Unit short, medium and long term objectives.
  • As a key member of the K/E Leadership Team, support decision making and day-to-day management of the K/E business
  • Management of all commercial activities relating to operated interests in Kenya:
  • Deliver the Lake Turkana commercial development plan and support BU delivery of a future FID (EP / full development);
  • Provide commercial oversight in all K/E BU activities;
  • Clearly define commercial responsibilities with other K/E functions;
  • Support and guide Commercial Advisor to achieve key objectives in the defined areas of responsibility;
  • Oversee economic and planning input as required by the BU;
  • Develop a commercial team as a function of business requirements
  • Support GMs and Leadership team in the delivery of BU objectives
  • Support Regional Commercial - EA Manager in the delivery of East Africa commercial objectives (including delivery of the pipeline)

Skills & Experience
  • Technical, commercial/legal or finance/business degree, preferably at Masters level.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Significant and proven experience in upstream oil industry;
  • Track record in delivery of high value upstream commercial transactions and closure of E&P contractual arrangements;
  • Experience in all phases of the E&P lifecycle a prerequisite;
  • Lead or key supporting role in delivery of commercialisation options for single or multiple high value oil and gas developments;
  • In depth knowledge of upstream economic value drivers and analysis;
  • Oversight and management of JV/regulatory/commercial operations and commercial assurance;
  • Understanding of financing and project financing of upstream, midstream and downstream projects;
  • Experience in Sub Saharan Africa desirable but not essential, equivalent experience essential;
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both internal and external
  • Cultural awareness and an ability to influence
  • Good influencer
  • Entrepreneurial attitude
  • Flexible and swift to respond
This is a permanent position.
The salary for this position is negotiable.
