Youth Development officer

Job Title: Youth Development officer (2 posts)
Program: Urban Crime Prevention Program
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Supervises: Project partners and interns
Start Date: Immediate
Location: Nakuru

Overall Responsibility:
The youth Development Officers will follow established processes and activities outlined in the Urban Crime Prevention Program.

Specific Responsibilities:
1. Managing project activities
2. Plan and organize appropriate youth and community programmes/activities as outlined in the implementation plans
3. Produce reports and business plans
4. Give presentations
5. Promote young people's interests
6. Maintain project records
7. Manage and administer budgets and resources
8. Prepare and distribute publicity materials and displays
9. Liaise and work with parents, schools, the police and other community groups/organizations
10. Support and participate in open trainings and meetings organized by GET-IT-Kenya and partners
11. Disseminate crime prevention and peace-building practices to program youth groups
12. Facilitate the selection, implementation and monitoring of youth income generation
13. Alongside GET-IT-Kenya management, prepare and implement the participatory stakeholder quarterly meetings on crime prevention in the target Nakuru County
14. Monitor, evaluate, and report on all youth activities under the program

General Responsibilities: 
1. Undertake the activities above in line with the associated budgets and with work plans, in ways that are consistent with GET-IT-Kenya policies;
2. Participate in GET-IT-Kenya processes;
3. Prepare and submit quality and timely plans, budgets and reports
4. Keep up to date with urban crime prevention initiatives, urban security initiatives and entrepreneurship opportunities in the county, nationally, East Africa and internationally
5. Undertake any other lawful tasks as may be assigned by the Project coordinator and Project Director;
6. Comply with and foster adherence to the established GET-IT-Kenya policies, regulations, guidelines and procedures;
7. Participate in meetings and sessions as needed;

Education and Experience
1. A Bachelor’s Degree in sociology or community development or any other related field
2. Demonstrated experience in conducting field-based research, both Qualitative and Quantitative.
3. At least 2 years’ of relevant work experience, specifically in NGO;
4. Adequate understanding of the Education and entrepreneurship Sector in Kenya;
5. Particular attention to detail;
6. Working knowledge of SPSS and or Stata is an added advantage.
7. Computer proficiency including, Microsoft Office and web-based applications;
8. Excellent research report writing skills, using both qualitative and quantitative data.
9. Strong communication skills. Critical Personal Attributes & Competencies
