“The Walter Reed Project” is a Research Based Organization that is affiliated to the Kenya Medical Research Institute. Our mission is to develop and test improved means for predicting, detecting, preventing and treating infectious disease. The organization seeks to fill the following positions:

Computer Operator (1 POSITION)

Location: Kisumu


Key Requirements:
Skills and Qualification:
 Diploma in Information Technology / Computer Studies
 Good computer skills ( with good working knowledge of spreadsheet, Databases, word processing)
 Two years relevant experience in research setting

Major Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Develop an in-depth understanding of the data management process and the data being managed.
2. Design and manage databases and data entry procedures.
3. Deploy and manage completed systems.
4. Data cleaning and handling data discrepancies.
5. Receive and Deal with routine problems arising in the course of data handling.
6. Train users on developed systems.
7. Participate in the design of data management procedures to achieve optimal efficiency and quality.
8. Perform data analysis (basic frequencies, advanced statistics and model building) and report generation.
9. Ensure data quality and standardization is maintained throughout.
10. Maintain steady working of computer hardware/software and ensure staff have access to network/email at their workstations.
11. Set up projector/monitors for presentations during training workshops.
12. Report any fault to the departmental head for action.
13. Participate in core IT activities to WRP Kisumu unit.
14. Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

Terms of employment shall be a one year renewable contract.
