GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF TASKS AND OBJECTIVES TO BE ACHIEVED
Under general supervision of the FAO Representative in Kenya and the Deputy FAO Representative in Kenya, the direct supervision of the head of PMU and in full collaboration with M&E, SPCU, pillar and/or sector units, the Associate
Programme Officer will perform the following duties:

 Develop and maintain up to date the various tools that are required to provide support in the compilation of programme information (the Kenya Portfolio, performance of the FAO Kenya Programme, HR planning & Programme Budgeting, donor obligations), for dissemination in appropriate formats, for follow-up with
sectors/pillars and the use in oversight management.
 Facilitate internal coordination process for joint planning, delivery and propose funding allocations (per sector, per area, etc.).
 Co-facilitate the FAO Kenya integrated work-planning.
 Contribute in programme monitoring by developing/maintaining tools on the status of projects/programmes at various stages; ensuring the consistency of the inflow of information (process monitoring at activity level) that will support PMU to perform desk level monitoring and review of inputs, expenditures and time frames according to work plans; make necessary abstracts and computations; detect inconsistencies.
 Facilitate the oversight process by entering, selecting, analysing data from various sources, including FAO corporate systems, such as FAO Kenya Work plan database, FPMIS and Data Warehouse/IMS in view to monitor project delivery and operational effectiveness and ensure the most effective and efficient use of resources.
 Co-facilitate continual review of the Programme Management Process for increased efficiency.
 Assist with the timely preparation of comprehensive reports for Donors and Management briefs, as well as reports against CPF outcomes (pillar-level reports), project outcomes (specific project reports) and sector work plans
(sector reports).
 Develop and manage the Unit work-planning using MS Office Project.
 Assist to popularize the new reporting concepts and formats (as per the new PCM).
 Facilitate the development and roll-out of new management tools (e.g. FPMIS) and standard operating procedures.
 Perform other related duties as required

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
 University degree in Economics or any Social Science
 Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a similar position; more specifically experience in programme design and
project cycle management.
 Advanced skills and competency in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Office Project, MS Visio, MS PowerPoint computer packages, as well as with statistical software;
 Good communication, analytical, presentation and reporting skills and an excellent team-player;
 Fluency in English is desirable;
 Proven experience with UN regulations and procedures will be an added advantage
