Job description

A Water Engineering Contactor is looking for a dynamic and results-oriented experienced professional ACCOUNTANT.

LOCATION: Kenya, ITEN (Rift Valley)

CONTRACT DURATION: Fixed-Term Contract;

RESPONSIBILITES AND TASKS:
Accounting Secretariat
  • Collect accounting vouchers (purchase, cash; sales…)
  • Classify and check the accounting vouchers
  • Grasp and impute the accounting vouchers in an appropriate accounting software (if any)
  • Sending expenses monthly returns to head office on an agreed format
  • Establish check end transfer orders
  • Perform the mandatory reporting formalities (wages, taxes…)
  • Payment of office and other utility bills in time
  • Maintain and update a cash book
Budget Monitoring
  • Control of cash
  • Control of payment of subcontractors
  • Control of the project budget
  • Prepare monthly expenditure forecasts and statements for cash request from Belgium
  • Manage banking matters (bank reconciliation, petty cash management) and other banking functions
  • Develop and implement an internal cost control system and liaise frequently with the Risk & Control Officer and he Managers in Belgium concerning project costing
Litigation Management
  • Tax litigation
  • Labor disputes / Social litigation
  • Customs litigation
  • Obtain tax exemption
Payroll duties
  • Calculation of wages
  • Prepare monthly regular staff salary sheets and arrange payments (it is expected all regular staff should have their bank accounts and the salaries will be remitted to those accounts)
  • Issue payslips
  • Prepare weekly casual wages and payment of same
Closing and account analysis
  • Liaise with the external auditor (if any) for auditing the books of account
  • Prepare balance sheet and the income statement
  • Determine the turnover of the company
  • Make annual inventories
  • Establish the annual financial statements
  • Refer to the Manager for financial information collected

Desired Skills and Experience

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
The candidate will have:
  •   High School Degree in accounting
  •   Minimum 5 years’ experience
  •   Strong ability to be rigorous, methodical and organized
  •   Ability to regularly update his knowledge and apply the prudence principle in the exercise of its functions
  •   Ability to work in teams, in a multicultural environment
