Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job
  • Customer Finance Business Partner reports to the Finance Director-ESA and will act as a Finance Business Partner to the several Customer Directors and their teams.
  • To proactively challenge and drive the business agenda, by providing financial support, guidance, and insights to the Customer Development Department.
  • To ensure that financial considerations are the key criteria in all business decisions
Main Accountabilities
  1. Provide decision support, analysis and advise to the Customer Development Leadership Team to ensure customer/channel profitability and effective management of trade marketing investment.
  2. Co-lead and facilitate Channel/Distributor segmentation exercises.
  3. Drive the promotional effectiveness agenda in Distributor Trade (DT) and actively participate in promotion pre and post evaluation.
  4. Provide finance expertise in various DT initiative and assist DT practitioners in matters relating to Finance, which include (but not limited to) inventory and debtor management, taxation, investment analysis, etc.
  5. Support DT team in decision making through regular reporting of business performance and adhoc financial simulations.
  6. Daily Operations and Month End closing as they relate to CD and Media
  7. Maintains the integrity of information under their stewardship
  8. Provide business partner support to several Customer Directors and their teams. Delivering strong financial analysis to allow good decision making and managing trade terms structures of these customers in order to deliver maximum benefit for the business.
  9. Drive OPSO (Promotional Evaluation) Process at key customers in order to improve Promotional effectiveness and average Return on Investment.
  10. Develop external financial relationships with customers with a view to developing the client business by sharing information and driving common goals.
  11. Improve Financial Awareness of CD Department through formal and informal training sessions.
  1. Finance Business Partner supporting the company’s General & Other Modern Trade Customer Development team – in maximizing their strategic investment for growth through performance management, decision support, developing business models, strategy formulation and putting strategy into action.
  2. Has limited involvement in negotiating and/or developing joint solutions with customers.
  3. Daily Operations and Month End closing as they relate to CD and Media.
  4. Maintains the integrity of information under their stewardship.
OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES  
  1. Analyse and challenge periodic reporting and financial performance of customer accounts.
  1. Provide financial input to the monthly Customer meetings and quarterly Customer Development meetings. Play an active role influencing decision making in all of these meetings.
  1. Support the CD team during the annual customer TTS negotiations, providing financial support and guidance ensuring that AP commitments are met.
  1. Maintain accurate overviews of all Customers Trade Terms and ensure that customer finance transactions teams have appropriate accruals for all off-invoice terms.
  1. Prepare all necessary Reports and Presentations for quarterly OPSO Meetings. Work with individual national account managers to ensure that they understand the financial implications of their promotional strategies.
  1. Support the overall IBP Process and drive the Customer Annual Plan process.
  1. Plan and implement regular Financial Awareness Training sessions with CD Department.
  1. Ongoing implementation of new initiatives.

Relevant Education & Experience
  • Graduate of Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • 2-3 years category/customer management accounting experience (as Executive or Assistant Manager )
  • Exposure   in customer management is a plus factor, knowledge of taxation is an advantage, project management
