Organizational background

The World Food Programme Somalia activities include food assistance for relief, emergency school feeding, humanitarian air and logistics services, food coordination and emergency rehabilitation projects.

This position is open to qualified Somali candidates with good knowledge of the local area. Female candidates in particular, are encouraged to apply.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Area office Logistics Officer and the overall supervision of the Head of Area Office, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:-

·         Post daily dispatches of food and non-food commodities in the corporate system;
·         Monitor quantity and use of commodities as per loading orders;
·         Respond to queries regarding WFP commodities;
·         Data entry of all commodity movements into WFP’s commodity tracking tool;
·         Monitor and manage deliveries by suppliers, clearing agents and WFP warehouses;
·         Monitor and assess quality and safety of goods;
·         Monitor on-going commodity movements, pipeline information and other related data;
·         Provide day to day reports on the progress and movement of commodities;
·         Monitor and report on food stocks in WFP warehouses and prepare weekly stock reports;
·         Extract data from WFP information systems;
·         Maintain filing systems and archives;
·         Perform other related duties as required.


Minimal Qualifications:


Education:
Secondary school education.

Experience:
At least three years of progressively responsible support experience including atleast one year in the field of accounting, transport, insurance, statistics, operations or another related field. At least one year at the G3 level or equivalent.

Language:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Somali.

Knowledge:
Experience utilizing computers, including word processing, spreadsheet or other WFP software packages. General knowledge of UN system policies, rules, regulations and procedures governing administration.
