Organizational background

The World Food Programme Somalia activities include food assistance for nutrition, livelihoods, relief and emergency school feeding, while also supporting humanitarian air and logistics services, food security coordination and infrastructure rehabilitation projects.

This position is open to qualified Kenyan nationals only. Female candidates in particular, are encouraged to apply.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Assistant, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:-

·      Obtain information on distribution plans, Food Release Notes and dispatches by Logistics;
·      Prepare periodic projections of beneficiaries for the current month based on distribution figures from the field;
·      Enter Service Entry Sheets (SES) in the system based on dispatched and distributed figures;
·      Review all Cooperating Partners’ reports to ensure consistency, accuracy and completeness of the information provided;
·      Analyze and process requests for a variety of data;
·      Enter data obtained through Cooperating Partners  into the COMPASS database;
·      Maintain a log of all Cooperating Partners reports received and follow up on missing reports;
·      Prepare periodic reports, statistical information and tables;
·      Maintain accurate records and files within the field of work;
·      Draft correspondence related to the field of work;
·      Perform other data entry tasks as may be required within the programme unit;
·      Perform other related duties as required.
Minimal Qualifications:

Education:
Secondary school education, preferably supplemented by courses in a field related to WFP programmatic activities.

Experience:
At least three years of progressively responsible experience including at least one year in the field of accounting, transport, insurance, statistics, operations or another related field. At least one year at G3 level or equivalent.

Language:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English. Fluency in the Somali language is desirable.

Knowledge:
Experience utilizing computers, including word processing, spreadsheet or other WFP software packages. General knowledge of WFP financial rules, regulations and procedures in the area of work.
