Introduction
​Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi (AKUH, N) is a private not-for-profit institution that provides tertiary- and secondary-level healthcare services. Established in 1958 and currently a 300 bed facility, the Hospital was upgraded to a tertiary level teaching hospital in order to respond to the health care needs of the people of East Africa.

Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi invites applications for the position of Purchase Assistant
Responsibilities
  • ​Obtain competitive quotes from suppliers and award the order to the supplier with the most competitive prices
  • Carry out negotiations with suppliers accordingly
  • Ensure service requests for non-stock purchases
  • Communicate with end users to clearly understand the requirements of the non-stocks and keep them informed on the status of their requests
  • Ensure that users’ requirements are confirmed by way of sign-off on evaluation forms
  • Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of items
  • Provide all the necessary information for approval of a purchase order
  • Inform users on new products
  • Assist in maintaining minimum stock days and maximum fill rates
  • Weekly, monthly and quarterly reports related to stock, cost savings and Non-stock Purchase Request status to end users.
Requirements
  • ​Diploma and/or a Degree in Supply Chain Management
  • At least 2 years experience in purchasing, preferably in hospital environment.
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Excel. 
  • Should have excellent negotiation, orgnisational and communication skills.
