Program description: This program is collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute and the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention whose remit is to conduct research in malaria, HIV and other diseases. Position: Administrative Officer II (MR 9) 
Location: NAIROBI 
Reporting to: DGHP Administrative Officer


ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: 
Bachelor’s Degree in Administration, Disaster Management, Finance, Human Resource or equivalent discipline. 
Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in Administration, Project Management, Business or closely related field. 
Proficiency in computer usage especially Microsoft packages.


DESIRED QUALITIES: 
Experience in research, disaster management work. 
Strong writing and communication skills in English and Kiswahili. 
Proven leadership, management, interpersonal, decision making and analytical skills. 
Ability to work with minimal supervision.


Job Summary: The Administrative Officer will be responsible for coordinating administrative activities for the RCER - including Budgeting, accounting, procurement, and personnel issues.


Major Duties and Responsibilities 
Budget preparation and analysis, proper management of petty cash/imprest funds and facilitate request and receipt surrenders. 
Manage and track program budgets. 
Manage procurements and contract, and ensures that all contracts are achieved 
Management of personnel issues in liaison with the Human Resource office. 
Liaise with project managers, administrative sections at the field station. 
Coordinate program and administrative activities in order to ensure achievement of objectives in time and within an agreed budget. 
Supervise support services functions of RCER including transport, supplies and logistics, general and personnel administration. 
Ensure dissemination and implementation of policies and procedures to staff including recruitment policy, health policy and induction procedures.

Terms of Employment: 1(one) year renewable contract as per KEMRI scheme of service and a Probation period for the first 3 months. Remuneration: Compensation is negotiable within the relevant grade, based on educational levels, relevant experience and demonstrated competency.
