Systems Administrator

Summary
Our client is an international health and wellness company dealing with Health products in the range of: Skin care, Home care, Food and Health fitness equipment. The group has its headquarters in China with operations in Europe, America and Asia and is now seeking to make inroads in the African market with Kenya as the Headquarters.

The system administrator shall be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, maintenance, performance, security and availability of systems hardware, software and related infrastructure.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • User accounts management, manage the email web server as well as internet service
  • Determines and initiates appropriate and immediate actions needed to restore normal services with minimal down time.
  • Investigates recurring and related operating system failures/inefficiencies by reviewing system logs, dumps and other information
  • Support server, network and desktop hardware, software and applications.
  • Train end users with simple network troubleshooting techniques.
  • Assess and recommend appropriate security tools and products.
  • Perform tracking and reporting of information systems audit issues.
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
  • Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
  • Upgrades system by conferring with vendors and services; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements and new software.
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Education and relevant skills
  • A Bachelors Degree Computer Science, Computer Engineering, ICT, IT or related field
  • CCNP qualification
  • 3-4 years experience in Systems Administration
  • Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information
  • Demonstrated outstanding level of professionalism in providing administrative support, including ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy
