Consultant to conduct Knowledge Management Training

Organisation 
Caritas Switzerland and Caritas Luxembourg are non-governmental aid agencies and members of Caritas Internationalis. Caritas works worldwide and adheres to international humanitarian principles (NGO code of conduct). Caritas Switzerland and Caritas Luxembourg act in the frame of a MoU as a consortium in the Eastern Africa and the Horn of Africa. They operate a joint Liaison Office in Nairobi; have Country Offices in Somaliland (Hargeisa) and South Sudan (Torit) and a Representative in Ethiopia (Addis Ababa). 

Caritas Switzerland/Luxembourg is looking for a consultant/firm to conduct a Knowledge Management Training for Staff. Knowledge Management (KM) focus of the training should be about the processes that identify, capture, evaluate, retrieve and share knowledge in support of organisational goals, whilst recognising the importance of effective people management. The training workshop is scheduled to take place in the first week of September 2014, for 15 staff.

Position Knowledge Management Consultant 
Reporting to :Deputy Head of Kenya Office 
Duration 3 days training from 2nd – 5th September, 2014 
Location Nairobi 

Key tasks 
- Develop a training module that will lead staff to a deeper understanding of the following: 
o KM concepts and principles of knowledge management and appreciate its importance and its benefits for Caritas Switzerland; 
o How to motivate staff to contribute and participate in KM processes; 
o Learn about knowledge sharing tools, techniques and processes being used by development organisations; 
o Learn from practical lessons and recommendations how to develop KM at Caritas Switzerland; and 
o Gain necessary knowledge and skills to lead successful KM initiatives internally, - Conduct the training 3-day intensive workshop and facilitate lively discussions and illustrating hands-on, real-life scenarios 

Requirements 
The successful candidate will have at least five years of progressively responsible work experience the area of knowledge management including: 
- A strong understanding, extensive usage and experience in the development and support to people, process and knowledge enabling tools; 
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a related field of study (KM, Management Information Systems, is highly desirable); 
- Demonstrate technical leadership, capacity, and experience to provide vision, direction, and leadership to learning and KM activities; and 
- Experience conducting formal and informal trainings and workshops
