Deputy Head Teacher – Kindergarten
The Board of Management of All Saints Cathedral
Schools seeks to recruit three key staff for its group of schools which
comprise kindergarten and primary school.
The All Saints Cathedral Church run two schools
under the banner ASC Schools which comprise the Kindergarten located at the All
Saints Cathedral Grounds and the Primary School located in Madaraka along
Ole-Sangale Road next to Strathmore University.
The Kindergarten which is almost as old as the All
Saints Cathedral Church is a full-day institution with a current population of
120 pupils. The Primary School which also has a pre-school was established in
1988. It currently has a population of the school is 230 pupils, which includes
30 pupils in the pre-school section.
The schools are developing into centres of
educational excellence that are committed to enhancing educational experience
of pupils to become servant leaders from a tender age, and shape them into agents
of change that will transform the Kenyan society and the world.
The Deputy Head Teacher –
Kindergarten is responsible for management of the kindergarten section of the ASC
Schools that comprise two kindergartens, one at All Saints Cathedral compound
and the other at the primary school in Madaraka.
The Deputy Head Teacher – Kindergarten reports to the Head
Teacher.
The key responsibilities of the
Head Teacher are:
1. Overall coordination of the activities of the
kindergarten both at All Saints Cathedral
compound and at the primary school and ensure that the kindergarten programmes
are running smoothly, efficiently and effectively on a day to day basis.
2. Ensuring that learning
facilities and environment is clean, hygienic and safe for leaning.
3. Evaluation and approval of teaching approaches,
methodologies and plans.
4. Ensuring that children are provided with adequate
support for growth and development through relevant activities, guidance,
counselling, and appropriate training.
5. Promotion of safety, security, health and
welfare of pupils and staff and ensuring that safety
standards are maintained at all times in the kindergartens.
6. Maintenance of academic and other mandatory
school records
7. Managing system of effective communication and
dissemination of information to pupils,
parents and other interested parties.
8. Managing functions and activities of the
kindergarten and take lead in relationship
management and publicity during such events.
9. Maintaining high level of discipline in the
school for both teachers and pupils.
10. Coordination of general administration duties
for the kindergarten.
The person we are looking for should be a holder
of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and a Diploma in Early
Childhood Development. A Bachelor’s degree with specialization in early
childhood development will be an added advantage. In addition he/she should
have a minimum of five years experience in a similar position. He/she must have
effective communication skills (both verbal and listing skills), compassionate
and understanding; flexible, creative and innovative; proven leadership and
management skills, and an effective team player that works collaboratively and
effectively with others. He/she must be able to develop and deliver effective
and inspirational professional development for staff (including mentoring and
coaching as appropriate).
The person must have strong interpersonal skills
and demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision. He must be a
committed Christian and preferably a practicing Anglican.
