Locum Medical Officer

Description

Working under the guidance and supervision of the Clinical Services Manager the Locum medical officer will specifically be responsible for:
  • Daily clinical assessment and prescription of treatment to all patients attending the hospital.
  • Organizing with fellow Doctors weekly work schedule to ensure that all days are adequately covered.
  • Conducting wards rounds and participate in the on-call system as per schedule.
  • Performing surgeries in the hospital theatre both elective and emergency.
  • Ensuring quality of care and up to date patient investigation, management and follow up.
  • Conducting special clinics for the chronic patients.
  • Identifying and coordinating referral of patients to secondary and tertiary facilities
  • He/she may be required to support the IRC Camp hospital depending on coverage.
  • Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Clinical Services Manager.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Medical doctor registered with the Kenya Medical and Dentists Practitioners Board
  • More than two years experience in a busy hospital setting.
  • Excellent clinical and surgical skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Computer literate
  • Good team player
  • Ability to work in hardship areas
  • Experience working with a non-profit humanitarian organization
  • Fluency in Turkana/Somali language will be an added advantage.
