Head Teacher

The Board of Management of All Saints Cathedral Schools seeks to recruit three key staff for its group of schools which comprise kindergarten and primary school.  


The All Saints Cathedral Church run two schools under the banner ASC Schools which comprise the Kindergarten located at the All Saints Cathedral Grounds and the Primary School located in Madaraka along Ole-Sangale Road next to Strathmore University.  

The Kindergarten which is almost as old as the All Saints Cathedral Church is a full-day institution with a current population of 120 pupils. The Primary School which also has a pre-school was established in 1988. It currently has a population of the school is 230 pupils, which includes 30 pupils in the pre-school section.

The schools are developing into centres of educational excellence that are committed to enhancing educational experience of pupils to become servant leaders from a tender age, and shape them into agents of change that will transform the Kenyan society and the world.  

The Head Teacher is responsible for providing leadership to All Saints’ Cathedral Church (ASC) ministry through schools to ensure effective learning in the kindergartens and the primary school, maintenance of enabling learning environment, ensure adequate learning facilities and resources in the schools, and ensure that the values of ASC as the owners are preserved in the schools, and that a culture of godliness and high standards are maintained in all schools. 

The Head Teacher will report directly to the ASC Schools Board of Management which has been charged by the Cathedral with the responsibility of providing strategic leadership and effective  management of the schools.     

The key responsibilities of the Head Teacher are:  
1. Provide overall leadership and oversee the effective management of the kindergartens and the primary school.    
2. Ensure that the schools maintain a safe and caring environment that fosters academic excellence as well as spiritual and physical wellbeing of pupils.   
3. Ensure prudent management and use of resources in the schools.     
4. Coordinate learning programmes and activities, maintain enabling learning environments, and ensure effective teaching/delivery.  
5. Ensure quality controls and assurance in the schools.  
6. Ensure compliance with all the legal and regulatory requirements as well as internal  policies, procedures and regulations.   
7. Ensure the safety, security, health and welfare of pupils and staff 
8. Ensure effective management of teaching and non-teaching staff.
9. Ensure that systems that enable schools to keep relevant records are developed and maintained.
10. Ensure timely preparation and submission of management and statutory reports.  
11. Ensure that the schools develop and maintain healthy and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.  
12. Maintain an effective disciplinary and grievance handling system.   

The person we are looking for should be a holder of a bachelor’s degree in Education with a minimum of eight years experience in a similar position. A Masters in Education will be an added advantage. He/she must have relevant teaching experience in a primary school. He/she must have strong leadership and demonstrated skills in management with ability to build strong and highly motivated teams. The person must have strong interpersonal and communication skills (including writing and presentation skills) and demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision. He must be a committed Christian and preferably a practicing Anglican.
