Responsibilities
​The incumbent will primarily be responsible for the provision of safe, competent, individualized nursing care to patients with a range of needs from simple to complex. The RN is also responsible for providing patient/family education and support and is required to assume a leadership role. Key responsibilities include:
  • utilization of the nursing process to identify care needs and documentation of the same
  • assessing patient environment for safety, cleanliness, and proper functioning of equipment
  • complete re-assessment of assigned patients
  • planning and delivering holistic care with minimum supervision to all assigned patients as needed
  • administering medication safely, monitor patient responses to medication where indicated and report related incidents promptly
  • using clinical judgment to interpret and communicate abnormal and critical lab results to physician
  • assessing patient/family health education needs and interventions needed
  • demonstrates safe handling and proper use of equipmen
  • reporting any unusual findings and occurrences both clinical and non-clinical to team leader
  • providing timely, comprehensive and complete nursing documentation by utilizing nursing process, which meets nursing quality standards
  • ensuring a safe environment by applying safety measures for the patients/families and healthcare team by following infection control policies
  • continuously assessing patients’ satisfaction throughout the shift
  • using Centre supplies/ equipment judiciously
Requirements
​Applicants should:
  • have valid registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya
  • have a valid license to practice from Nursing Council of Kenya
  • be a graduate from a recognized school of Nursing
  • be Basic Life Support certified
  • have knowledge of Advanced cardiac monitoring
  • show demonstrated knowledge of the pharmaceuticals and CSSD supplies in use in the department
  • have Microsoft Office Application computer skills
